If I'm a fanboy of any kind then I guess I'd have to be classified as one of the Nintendo sort. However, I'm just constantly taken aback by how Nintendo refuses to embrace online gaming. They act like letting gamers connect with each beyond the raw gameplay experience is like crossing the beams
of two proton packs. Universe-ending phenomena are sure to result.
Admittedly, I've been a bit detached from the comic lately. This is the first fresh news post in a couple weeks. That's all because I'm prepping for my qualifying exam. If you've never heard of that particular exam before, just know that it's a pretty important event in graduate school. I have not peed my pants in some 20 years. I'm proud of that record and I flaunt
it every chance I get, but the qualifying exam is designed to be so stressful that I may have to start my record streak anew once the actual exam hits. During the exam, you basically have to stand before a committee of five professors for 3 to 4 hours. They ask you questions to test your fundamental knowledge of science (in my case, that is, but it depends on your area of study) and your ability to conduct valid research. If you pass, you get to continue with your PhD work. If you fail, you're dismissed from the graduate program. The bladder trembles just thinking about it. However, the good news is that once the exam is over I will have a little more
breathing room in my schedule and will be permanently switching to two comic strip updates a week. I'm actually a bit excited about that.
