Enough Already

I figured I'd just spend some time listing the thoughts I had while watching two of the three big pre-E3 press events:

Microsoft

- Corporeal is pretty cool.

- The frequency of Peter Moore's voice cracking is approximately 1 crack/20 words.

- Peter Moore and crew do a good job of showing how strange you'll look to the rest of the world while playing Rock Band.

- Viva Pinata Party Animals...hmm...I was hoping Banjo Kazooie would be the Rare title on display.

- When I first saw the Scene It controller I thought it was a parody of the early Wii remote prototypes. The truth was not as funny.

- So many damn FPS games.

- I'll concede that Call of Duty 4 looks like a quality title, however.

- Everything Halo bores me to death.

- Resident Evil 5 continues to globe trot, landing on the African continent this time around, it would appear. What can I say? This looks fantastic. The unparalled atmosphere of the game is already apparent.

- Regarding Assassin's Creed: If you jump off the Golden Gate Bridge into the water you will probably die, but if you jump off a bell tower of equal height onto a cart of hay not only will you and the cart be completely unscathed, but people mere feet from the whole event will not even take notice.

- Still regarding Assassin's Creed: the constant futuristic memory-rendering (or whatever) effect that surrounds certain enemies kind of takes me out of the game. I've always thought that Assassin's Creed should be set purely in the period of the Crusades with no futuristic elements.

- In conclusion about Assassin's Creed: when all's said and done Assassin's Creed looks to be an amazing game. Can't wait to play this one.

Nintendo

- Alright, here come the megaton announcements.

- After 20 minutes of reflection on Nintendo's recent successes I'm thinking this has got to be leading into some awesome game unveilings.

- Yes, here it comes. Prepare to be blown away!

- Reggie pulls out Wii Zapper.

- *frown*

- Mario Kart Wii, booyah.

- */frown*

- Wii Wheel

- *resume frown*

- During the Metroid Prime 3 presentation the speaker was clearly trying to give vocal cues for the girl to show how the visor change system works but, alas, she did not follow. She did better than I would have done, though, since I would have probably capped off my performance with an involuntary release of a nervous bladder.

- Wii Fit...I think it looks good. It appeals to me and I hope it succeeds.

- Nintendo seems to have forgotten that casual and non-gamers aren't the ones tuning in to watch these conferences.

- Where are Animal Crossing and Pikmin?

- I tried not to get my hopes up about seeing something regarding a new Wii Zelda title. I failed.

Overall, I think these upcoming months look like an unprecedented period for gamers. Bioshock, Call of Duty 4, Assassin's Creed, Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, and Smash Bros. to name a few. I can see why developers wouldn't want to announce new titles just yet and dilute the hype for these games.
