Good to see that Microsoft is taking some major action with regards to all those faulty 360s. But I think it still leaves owners with a bit of a gamble. Without knowing exactly what hardware issues are causing all these breakdowns it seems like you're still left with a machine that may brick at any moment even if it survives the new 3 year extended warranty period. In a perfect world, Microsoft would allow all current owners to send in their 360s and get the new heat sink installed as a preventative measure. But if Microsoft is currently taking over a billion dollar hit by just extending the warranty and offerring retroactive reimbursements I hate to think what my proposal would cost them.
